This basement was a quick “painless” little project that took us about 2 weeks to complete. We only finished a small section of the basement located at the right side of the basement steps, one big room really.

We basically framed 4 walls to form a rectangular shaped room and then framed two small closets at one end of the new space. We also framed a typical “angle wall” at the base of the steps to accommodate a banister railing assembly that we would be installing later during the “trim phase” of this project.

The basement had no Egress exit so we had to install a new Egress Window unit to pass local code inspections. The Egress window was the most expensive part of the project for the homeowners and cost roughly $ 3,800.00 to install (materials and labor).

The family is using the new space as a play room for their two small children to enjoy! We added around 350 sq. ft of new finished basement living space to this house with this project. Nice:-)
