One good option for an additional amount of usable closet space can be found under your basement staircase. This otherwise wasted space is perfect for a new closet in your new finished basement.
It’s very simple to framed-out a nice closet space in this staircase space and add either a “side” entrance door or a “rear” entrance door to access this new closet space.
Even though the ceiling in this type of finished closet will conform to the “angle” of the steps themselves, there is still some great usable closet space left under the steps! A space for hanging clothes, or hiding away the vacuum or broom, a toy closet for your children, I’m sure most of us will find good use of this space. I always say: “the more basement closet space the merrier!”
“It’s time to put your tool belt on!”
