Before you strap on the electric tool pouch and fire-up your wire strippers and cordless drill you need a plan of attack for wiring your basement project. You need a basement electric plan to follow.
Now before you start to panic about designing your own basement electric plan, I have to tell you it’s so damn simple…putting it bluntly!
I made you a quick video to show you how to do it! In this video I will totally design an electric plan for a basement of one of my clients using a drop-dead simple computer program anyone can buy at the local big-box electronic stores.
Watch this video now and then get cracking on your own electric design plan…It’s cake!
I normally have the following electric circuits on every basement project:
- 2 to 3 – 12/2 wire outlet circuits
- 2 to 3 – 14/2 wire lighting circuits
- 2 – 12/2 GFI outlet circuits (Bathrooms, Wet bars, Laundry areas, etc.)
- 1 – 12/2 “Double 20 amp Electric Heating circuit
Other electric diagram items that your code officer may want noted on the electric plan are:
- Smoke Detector Locations
- GFI outlets labeled
If your planning on doing your own electric I have a complete step-by-step electric series inside the members area. The series teaches you rough-in electric as well as finish electric to get your electric project 100% from A to Z.
Good luck with your electric design plan!
